
Richard J. Fetter, LISW-S is a licensed independent social worker who has been providing Counseling Psychotherapy in the central Ohio area since 1982. Mr. Fetter has expertise in using several theoretical approaches and methods such as: Cognitive Therapy, Social Learning Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Developmental Theory, and Analytical Theory. Regardless of his approach, he places the most value on the art of listening, speaking honestly and insightfully, while supporting and appreciating each individual.
Mr. Fetter provides services to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, painful transitions or traumatic change such as loss, aging, parenting issues, divorce, illness or other chronic or sudden crisis. He helps individuals and couples learn more successful methods for addressing problems, resolving conflicts, improving relationships, and enhancing life satisfaction.
In addition to maintaining a fulltime private practice, Mr. Fetter has been a leader in the mental health field. He served as the Mental Health Consultant to Hilliard Schools. He developed and directed The Center for Families in Transition, a counseling center for treating individuals and families experiencing divorce, remarriage and/or difficulties with step-family issues. He also developed and directed The Franklin County Domestic Relations Court, Mediation and Evaluation Services. For several years, Mr. Fetter also owned and operated a company that managed a large private practice group of mental health professionals who primarily provided psychiatric medication assessment and management.
Mr. Fetter obtained his Masters of Social Work with an emphasis on clinical counseling and a Masters of Business Administration from the Ohio State University.
