Interactive Seminars for Middle School and High School Students
Instructor: Kathryn Leugers, Psy.D., MBA
The Smart Series seminars are designed to help tweens and teens increase confidence and success in the classroom, in coping with their feelings, and in their relationships. Through instruction, exercises, discussion, and role plays participants will be encouraged to think ahead about what really matters to them and what kind of choices they want to make this school year.
Smart Learning: Saturday September 18th

Smart Relationships: Saturday October 16th
Middle School Series 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
High School Series 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Comfy clothes and friends are welcome!

Seminar Fees: $40 fee per seminar ($30 if reserve seat with a credit card at least 3 days before the seminar); $80 fee for all 3 seminars if reservation is made prior to the first seminar.

Tuesday Night Adult Group
Resolving Conflict and Transforming Relationships
This adult counseling group led by Richard J. Fetter, LISW, will be a positive experience for anyone who wants to learn more effective communication for problems that block successful relationships.
The program will help each person to become more aware of his or her own personality makeup, it will provide each participant feedback as to the effectiveness of their methods of relating to others and offer a revealing, enriching and respectful group learning experience. Through the use of role simulations, discussion and mini presentations, participants will experience and learn methods for resolving the dilemmas and problems of daily living that interfere with healthy relationships.
This ten week group will be a positive experience for anyone who seeks to know themselves better or who wants to learn more effective techniques for creating successful communication; anyone having problems at work, with family or others; or anyone with situational, chronic or traumatic life crisis.
Enrollment is limited to twelve participants. The fee for the ten week program is $360, payment can be made in full or in weekly installments. The group will begin on Tuesday, September 21, and will meet for ten consecutive Tuesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

The Power of Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a particular way of paying attention that involves a deliberate non-judgmental awareness of present moment experiences. By being mindful we remove judgment enhancing our awareness and increasing our ability to respond with greater intention, which helps improve relationships and reduce inner turmoil.
The Power of Mindfulness teaches participants some basic techniques that can be practiced in order to:
• Enhance understanding and appreciation of others
• Increase the ability to manage attention and focus
• Manage stress in a healthier way
• Promote self discovery
• Experience more joy and satisfaction in life

How to Avoid Dating a Jerk (Jerkette)
Jeff Sherrill, Ph.D. and Emily Vonck, BA will help teens explore common problems that lead to poor choices in dating. Dr. Sherril and Emily are both certified PICK (Premarital Interpersonal Choices and Knowledge) instructors. They will introduce the Relationship Attachment Model (RAM) developed by John Van Epp, Ph.D. and show how it can be used as a guide in developing safe, satisfying relationships.
